Senior Project #4

Image
My very first initial goals consisted of one goal, and that goal was to come out of college with less debt. When I unluckily wasn't scheduled with many hours the first two weeks of the project I gave myself many other goals to accomplish. These consisted of painting/ spending more time on the drawings in my journal, practicing mandarin with friends via Fortnite, working out 5 days a week, drinking a gallon of water a day (inspired by Benjamin), and finally cooking with my mom more. I did in fact reduce my college debt, especially in the second two weeks where I worked for about 50 hours in total. I have spent more time in my journal, more time doing art in general and have worked on a painting with a work friend all of these activities has felt great. I have cooked a lot more however not very often with my mom. Over the course of the project I made coconut Thai curry, beyond burgers, wagyu burger, and regular griddles burgers. I perfected the art of the caramelized onion, made savo...

Senior Project Week 3

-On Sunday some less experienced workers were distributing the frozen load during my lunch. The store which also made it hard and when I got back downstairs there was a lot of work to do. As soon as I began I worked as hard and as fast as I could while also keeping the process organized. My manager congratulated  me saying that my hard work had rubbed off on the other workers helping with the frozen.  -This week I learned that working hard can make a process easier because it will inspire others to work harder/ the way you work will inspire others. Also in conversation with Adam Simon, I learned that spacing art pieces when presented lets the viewer focus on their art. We also discussed how making art can be very discouraging when we don't like what we make but that we are always learning. It is important not to get down on one's self. I think that Sasha is a big inspiration there. I did stay consistent with my workouts however which has felt very good. I also made cheesy spin...

Senior Project week 2

A happy moment from this week was making beyond burgers with my mom for the family and getting positive feedback. I said I was going to cook with my mom but my schedule filled very quickly. Even though I wasn't around for the times my mom cooked, I ended up making doner kebabs with a friend I recently connected with, a smoked pork shoulder with William and Alec, savory popovers with my friend Jade from work, and fish and chips with Lizzy. (I am vaccinated with two weeks and have been taking advantage).     Unfortunately I was scheduled with little work this week and tried to pick up a shift but was not able to. With this time I spent a lot of time with friends and some family. During this time I worked on my comfort with silence, as this is something I lack. Even if I put myself in discomfort because of this I have definitely started to feel more comfortable and conversations have felt less forced. I also learned what doner kebabs are.     I have be...

The person/organization you are working with (if applicable), the classes you chose to continue, or the Capstone Project you are working on Why did you choose this particular project? Introductions - what was your inspiration, who are the people you’re working with, etc. How did you pull together this particular project? 3 goals for your senior project (set these with your mentor) 1-2 images/photos   I am working at QFC as a courtesy clerk (grocery bagger, stocking products, and helping customers). I chose to continue my work at QFC to evade future debt. I would have loved to get a job that would teach me new things, and I did apply for a job at a local bubble tea, but unfortunately after an interview I did not get an email back. I have been working at QFC since August and have made great friends, and learned many things, but mostly I am doing this because I need the money.      At QFC I work with many people around my age but mostly managers. Every shift I as...
